Greenville Technical College (GTC) and the YMCA of Greenville have established a collaborative relationship. The goal is to promote health and well-being of the college’s students, staff, and stakeholders through shared programming, pathways, and collaborative opportunities.

The two organizations will work together to develop and offer non-credit personal interest classes in health and wellness areas including coaching and refereeing, to promote intramural sports for GTC students, to offer physical activity courses for students earning associate degrees at GTC, and to create shared programming around food, nutrition, and health in partnership with GTC’s Truist Center for Culinary and Hospitality Innovation. In addition, the YMCA of Greenville will develop internship opportunities for GTC students, promote membership opportunities for the GTC community, and encourage the use of the YMCA facilities for employee and student activities.

“This is a unique partnership between two neighboring entities with missions that come together nicely to impact the community,” said Dr. Keith Miller, president of Greenville Technical College. “The college is working to transform lives through education, and the YMCA of Greenville is creating a stronger community by investing in our kids, health, and neighbors. Working together, we can increase the health and well-being of those we serve.”

“The YMCA of Greenville has a long history of partnering with organizations to help further our collective impact on the community in the areas of  healthy living, youth development and social responsibility,” said Scot Baddley, president and CEO, YMCA of Greenville. “Together with Greenville Tech, we are able to reach far more people to help educate and empower them on different ways they can take control of their health to have an improved quality of life through a better spirit, mind and body.”
