Friday, March 27th, 2020
Melissa Deloach has been named Sylvan Learning Center’s Teacher of the Month.
In May of 2019, Deloach made the decision to start assisting students at Spartanburg’s Sylvan Learning Center location. At Sylvan, Deloach manages college prep programs including writing, Upper Level Math Edge and SAT/ACT prep. On the weekends, Deloach guides Sylvan’s Sunday afternoon instruction, which serves high school students only.
“She has an unusual ability to motivate and encourage high school students,” said Joan Russell, Director of Enrollment & Education for Sylvan Learning Center. “We’re grateful that Melissa has a broad understanding of the college entry process, as well as the skills needed to be successful in college.”
Her aspiration to coach students on these skills does not end with Sylvan. Outside of her role at Sylvan, Deloach is employed by Scholar’s Academy, a Spartanburg academic program that provides advanced learners with a quality education in a supportive learning environment.
In her free time, she enjoys reading and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
With local franchise centers in Anderson, Greenville and Spartanburg, Sylvan Learning Center has spent the last 40 years as the leading provider of personal learning for students in grades K-12. Designed for students falling behind or wanting to get ahead, Sylvan offers a wide range of tutoring services framed to empower students and encourage a love for learning.
